3120 St. Louis Ave.
Columbia now serves as one of the three full curriculum certified gifted public elementary schools in the St. Louis region offered by the St. Louis Public Schools. Utilizing the same accelerated curriculum used at Kennard and Mallinckrodt, teachers create a warm and challenging environment for students who have been tested and identified as gifted. The gifted program Columbia started with Pre-K and Kindergarten in the 2016-2017 school year, and is expanding one grade level per year.
- Students must achieve eligible scores on tests administered by the SLPS Gifted Testing Offices. Scores submitted for test results administered by private testing vendors will not be accepted for review. Scores submitted for tests administered by other school districts are subject to review and approval by the SLPS Gifted Testing Offices.
- Minimum eligible scores are 90th percentile on intelligence and academic achievement tests.
- Gifted Permission to Assess online submission form must be returned 1 week after submitting this application.
The Gifted Testing Offices have final determination on student eligibility for gifted programs offered by the SLPS.
Students graduating 5th grade from the gifted program at Columbia will be automatically assigned to the McKinley Classical Junior Academy Middle School for the 6th grade.
