Mullanphy serves children from pre-school (age 3) through grade five and additionally houses special education classes for children of autism, cross-categorical and resource.

Students are taught through investigative learning activities, and utilize the two computer labs, two science labs, the school's greenhouse and the school's formal garden.The school also receives resources and support from the Missouri Botanical Garden, the St. Louis Science Center and the St. Louis Zoo.

Mullanphy 5th grade graduates are automatically assigned to the Compton Drew Investigative Learning Center Middle School for 6th grade.
