The Humboldt Academy of Higher Learning was opened for students in grades 3 through 5 at the start of the 2011-12 school year to meet the demand for the Constructivist curriculum offered to Preschool through 2nd grade students matriculating out of the Stix and Wilkinson Early Childhood Centers. In the Constructivist environment, children make choices and develop positive attitudes toward active learning through themes, projects and centers. Teachers prepare students to become autonomous citizens for a democratic society. The process includes social, ethical, cognitive, symbolic and physical growth and development. Students graduating out of Humboldt AHL are automatically assigned to the Busch Middle School of Character for the 6th grade.
