Thank you for visiting the Ames Visual and Performing Arts online application. On this page you will find a few instructions to get you started with the application.

Before beginning the application, we ask that you read our Requirements & Policies.

To ensure inclusion into the 2019-20 School Year SLPS Magnet and Choice Schools Placement Lottery, applications must be submitted by 11:59:59 pm Friday, November 2, 2018 for the Pool A Placement Lottery and by 11:59:59 pm Friday, January 4, 2019 for the Pool B Placement Lottery.

Applications submitted after the Pool B submission deadline will be processed and considered for placement on a first-come-first-served basis, after all Pool A and Pool B Lottery eligible applicants have been placed.


Information sent to applicants stating a child is "Lottery Eligible" does not indicate a seat to the requested school has been offered, or that an applicant has been accepted to attend the requested school. "Lottery Eligible" status indicates the student has met age and residency requirements to be considered for placement.


Information sent to applicants stating a child is "Placement Eligible" does not indicate a seat to the requested school has been offered, or that an applicant has been accepted to attend the requested school. "Placement Eligible" status means the student has met the criteria for determination of eligibility to attend the school requested.


Applicants must have placement requests "Submitted" and be considered "Lottery Eligible" and "Placement Eligible" to be fully accepted to enroll at a school requested. Prior to determination of "Placement Eligibility", your child may be added to the Accepted List in the Pool A or Pool B Placement Lottery, PENDING DETERMINATION OF ELIGIBILITY. This means a seat is held for your child until residency is verified and/or the school or Gifted Office determines if the applicant meets the school criteria for acceptance.


DISTRICT PROVIDED BUS TRANSPORTATION IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS ACCEPTED INTO A 3 YEAR OLD PRE-KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOM AT ANY POINT THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR, INCLUDING AFTER THE STUDENT TURNS 4 YEARS OF AGE.


STUDENTS ACCEPTED INTO 3 AND 4 YEAR OLD PRE-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAMS ARE EXPECTED TO BE TOILET TRAINED PRIOR TO ENROLLMENT AT THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AND MAY LOSE THE PRE-KINDERGARTEN SEAT OFFERED IF THYE ARE NOT. MATERIAL FOR TOILETING MISHAPS IS REQUIRED TO BE PROVIDED BY THE PARENT. STUDENTS IN DIAPERS, "PULL-UPS" AND OTHER TOILET TRAINING CLOTHING OR DEVICES, OR THOSE WITH FREQUENT TOILETING INCIDENTS ARE NOT CONSIDERED TO BE TOILET TRAINED AND MAY LOSE THE PRE-KINDERGARTEN SEAT OFFERED AFTER THE STUDENT IS ENROLLED AT THE SOLE DISCRETION OF THE SCHOOL.


EXCESSIVE TARDINESS OR ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL MAY RESULT IN THE WITHDRAWAL OF YOUR CHILD FROM AN SLPS PRE-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM.
